On this episode of Fast Forward, I welcome Josh Schwartz, head of Verizon Media’s internal Red Team. That means he spends his days trying to hack into his employer’s most valuable and trusted systems, ideally before someone who isn’t on the payroll does the same thing. At SXSW, we spoke about how the threat matrix has changed over time and what companies must do to protect themselves. Schwartz also explained how consumers can protect themselves online as well. Josh Schwartz: I only wish, right? It’s having the responsibility of breaking in, getting to places. Of course it’s quite exciting, but obviously, in the movies you see everything happening instantaneously and in reality it doesn’t. It takes a lot of work…it’s not just running around causing pranks.
