Christine Sinclair remembers just how proud she felt when she stepped onto the field at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada for the first game of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.It was Sinclair’s fourth time representing Canada at a World Cup, but the first time that the tournament had been hosted by her home country.“That opening game, just walking out, very few people get a chance to play in a World Cup, never mind one in your home country,” Sinclair said. “I played two games in my home stadium in Vancouver. It’s pretty nuts to be able to play in front of your friends and family. It didn’t end the way that we hoped it would, but just looking back that was a very memorable moment.” Four years later, the longtime Canadian Women’s National Team captain is preparing for her fifth World Cup.
