Manchester City have completed the signing of young Croatian midfielder Ante Palaversa ahead of the closure of the January transfer window at 11pm on Tuesday. The under-19 international has joined the Blues from Hajduk Split in a deal that will see him loaned back to that club until summer 2020. Rabbi Matondo, the 18-year-old winger, left the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday for Schalke to become the latest young British prospect to seek first-team opportunities in the German Bundesliga. The Wales international’s departure has earned the Blues £11m for a player who did not once feature in a first-team match-day squad. The Blues missed out on midfield target Frenkie De Jong earlier this month, with the Ajax midfielder instead opting for a move to La Liga champions Barcelona. Meanwhile the Premier League title race continues with Liverpool dropping two points against Leicester.
