Construction headaches I am wondering if it is true that all we are going to get from putting up with that abomination (construction) on Avenida de Mesilla/Valley for 16 months (or more) is a raised median? We will have the same number of lanes? As Yogi Berra would say, “It ain’t worth it.” John M. Ryan, Mesilla — I fully understand Oscar Andrade’s decision to close his Pic Quik store on Avenida de Mesilla. Following the closing of La Fiesta Bakery and the problems endured by many other local businesses because of the Valley construction project, it is obvious that neither NMDOT nor the city of Las Cruces understands the problems of running a business. It is doubtful that either party gave much consideration in planning the project as to how the project would affect business and their patrons and even less once the project was underway.
