By Siddhant Aney On July 15, the 2018 FIFA World Cup will conclude at the Luzhniki Stadium. Over the past month, Russia has shattered many myths and couple of legends. We came here knowing very little about the real Russia and what to expect from it. As it turned out, both on the pitch and off it, we should have been a lot more excited. Yet, there were moments to treasure. New Russia The largest city in Europe, and the largest country in the world, welcomed the World Cup with a sense of unsure calm. Moscow wore a deserted look during the first few days of the tournament as many of the city’s 20-million plus residents retreated to their dachas in the countryside to avoid the expected onslaught of drunken football fans. The fans themselves came to Russia expecting an old world that no longer exists — except in the nostalgia of a fading generation and the confines of a TV set. New Russia is rich, consumer-driven and keen to impress.
