MEMBERS of Hereford’s junior roller derby team have been selected to play an exhibition bout during the Roller Derby World Cup. The eight players and three coaches will be in Manchester for the event that takes place from next Thursday (February 1) to February 4. Representing Hereford will be Marianne Corrick- Gough and Verity Corrick- Gough of St Marys RC High School, Florence Bradshaw and Lily Dowey of Whitecross High School, Rowan Parry of Queen Elizabeth’s Bromyard, Izzy Farkas of Hereford Sixth Form College, Niya Dodd of Hampton Dene Primary School and Dan England, who attends UCAN in Northwich, Cheshire but makes a weekly five-hour round trip to train with the Poison Berries. The team, who train and are sponsored by The Core Skate on Foley Trading Estate, are unbeaten as a team and had eight players selected to play for England Juniors last September. “I thought that playing for England Juniors would be the biggest game of our lives but now we have the opportunity to play at the World Cup.,” said Marianne, who is the team captain. “When we started four years ago, we wouldn’t dared to have dreamt of playing at such prestigious events.” The juniors, selected…
