AS the UK settles in to its sixth week of lockdown, some retailers and fast food chains are slowly starting to reopen stores. Shops and restaurants are allowed to continue to trade online during the lock down, even though branches must temporarily close to the public following government orders. ⚠️ Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates The closures are to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus and relieve pressure on the NHS. But many essential shops also ended up closing over fears continuing to operate would put staff and customers at risk. Now, some of these chains are beginning to trial reopening stores – although it won’t be business as usual. Here are all of the shops that are starting to reopen their stores and/or websites during lockdown and what measures they’ve put in place to keep shoppers and staff safe. Shops B&Q B&Q has now reopened all 288 of its UK stores. The hardware chain initially reopened 14 branches in mid-April after watching “other essential retailers support social distancing measures”.
