The Democratic National Committee is trying to rescue the sixth primary debate on Thursday in Los Angeles after all seven qualifying candidates said they would not attend if they had to cross the picket line. Officials at the DNC are pushing to end a labor dispute between Sodexo, a food services company, and about 150 of its employees who work on the Loyola Marymount University campus, which is scheduled to host the sixth Democrat debate this week. ‘As a former labor secretary who handled several labor disputes, he understands the importance of getting the parties back to the table, and expects that to happen promptly,’ Democratic National Committee Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa said Monday. Hinojosa is the lead debate organizer for DNC Chairman Tom Perez. Perez, according to Hinojosa, ‘spent the entire weekend’ urging stakeholders to engage in negotiations to end the dispute.
