TOKYO (REUTERS, AFP) – New Zealand will face England in next Saturday’s (Oct 26) Rugby World Cup semi-finals after the All Blacks pummelled a flat Ireland 46-14 in Saturday’s last-eight clash in Tokyo. The three-time champions had lost two of their last three matches against the Irish, but Saturday’s performance better reflected the All Blacks’ overall record against the men in green, which now stands at 29 wins to two defeats, with one match drawn. “We just wanted to play well,” said man-of-the-match Beauden Barrett. “We wanted to bring that intent tonight. It’s do-or-die footy. We knew the reality was we could have been going home if we didn’t bring it tonight.” Ireland coach Joe Schmidt, who is stepping down from the role, conceded that the team had been “a little bit flat all season”. “It’s just disappointing.
