Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves time to turn things around. But football is an unforgiving environment – so things often don’t work out that way. The Red Devils’ season had been concerning enough prior to last night’s goalless draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. But Manchester United’s turgid display on the night – a display that didn’t result in a single shot on target – has set off alarm bells. Solskjaer has been told by the United hierarchy that he’ll be given transfer windows to get things to work. The problem is, though, no United player has improved under Solskjaer. Not a single one. The Red Devils can put up with setbacks. Woodward, in particular, is willing to put up with bad results as long as progress is being made.
