If not for the elaborate security convoy accompanying the team buses, it would have been hard to imagine that the No.1 and No.3 ranked Test sides were beginning a series in two days. It’s a far cry to the build-up of the last two contests between India and South Africa. In 2015, Ravi Shastri boomed the possibility of India fielding four spinners. Last year, Faf du Plessis followed through on his pre-series claims and actually played four seamers in the Cape Town opener. Two days away from the Test, the Vizag pitch, which carries a wheatish complexion, has remained quietly incidental.
