With victory over Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev has become just the third man to have a winning record over the Swiss after at least seven matches. Zverev produced arguably his best performance of the season to beat Federer on his sixth match point in their enthralling Shanghai Masters quarter-final. Critically, it was Zverev’s first win over a top ten player in 2019 and boosts his chances of qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals. Zverev now leads the head-to-head with Federer 4-3 and the ATP have revealed the German has joined just two other active players, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, in having a winning record over the Swiss after seven matches. Djokovic leads Federer 26-22 while Nadal is ahead 24-16. Zverev is now through to his first Masters semi-final of the year, where he will play Italian Matteo Berrettini.
