Harry Winks has been included in England’s squad for next month’s Nations League Finals. The Tottenham midfielder underwent groin surgery at the end of April but is hopeful of being fit for the Champions League Final on June 1. England play Holland in Guimaraes just five days later and Gareth Southgate selected a large squad to give those returning from injury every chance to be available, especially with Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all engaged in European finals. Harry Kane has also been named in the 27-man squad, while Southampton’s Nathan Redmond is the suprise name. Redmond, who is in alongside club team-mate James Ward-Prowse, scored nine goals in the second half of the season to put him back into Southgate’s thoughts. Southgate said: “I think he finished the season really well. I think the new manager has had a positive effect: a lot of pace, playing the high press and he has started to score more regularly. “It is a really good opportunity for Nathan.” Southgate will not have to decide on his final 23 until May 27, although changes can be made up until 24 hours before the match in Portugal.
