England have named Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan in their squads for limited-overs matches against Ireland and Pakistan, but not in a preliminary 15-man pool for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. This is the first England call for Barbados-born Archer, who last month became eligible to play for the country. Jordan has not played an ODI since 2016 but his T20I form for England in the West Indies earlier this year has earned him a recall. The pair is part of England’s ODI squad to play one game versus Ireland and five against Pakistan, as well as in the squad for a one-off T20I against Ireland. Among those in England’s preliminary World Cup squad are Kent allrounder Joe Denly, the opener Alex Hales and the allrounder Liam Plunkett, David Willey and Tom Curran. Eoin Morgan’s top-ranked ODI team and tournament favourites play the aforementioned matches with Ireland and Pakistan before the World Cup begins on May 30.
