For International Women’s Day, we have compiled a list full of inspirational, selfless, high-flying females, to celebrate just how awesome the women of Plymouth are. The worldwide event calls for gender equality and celebrates women’s achievements in all areas, from politics to fashion and social to cultural – at the same time as highlighting positive role models to younger females. We have selected 101 women to mark 101 years since women in the UK we given the right to vote. Every year on March 8, governments, women’s organisations, corporations and charities come together to mark the day with talks, art performances, network events and marches. The women on this list might be charity workers, business leaders, mental health advocates, artists, athletes or politicians, but they all have one thing in common – they are all inspiring and taking bold steps to create increasing gender equality.
