Bristol will celebrate its status as a 2019 Men’s Cricket World Cup host city with a three-day visit from the tournament trophy next month. The trophy will appear at events and landmarks in the city between Friday-Sunday, March 8-10 as part of a 100-day tour of England and Wales to celebrate the tournament, which includes a trio of matches in the city between June 1-11. As well as schools and scout activities during the three-day tour of Bristol, the trophy will also visit cricket clubs and the SS Great Britain. It will also be at the St Mark’s Road Carnival on March 9 where residents, community and religious groups and traders will be encouraged to celebrate the hosting of the tournament. Broadmead will also host a ‘Super Saturday’ event featuring music, special guests, entertainment and a street cricket tournament on May 4 in the build-up to the tournament, which gets under way with the opening match between England and South Africa at London’s Oval ground on May 29.
