In the opening remarks of her first State of the City address as mayor, London Breed vowed to house 4,000 more homeless people during the next four years and announced the new director of the Public Health Department. Breed, who is up for re-election in November, delivered her address Wednesday in a crowded room of city and elected officials at the National LGBTQ Center for the Arts at 170 Valencia St. “We know we have around 4,000 unsheltered people in our city, sleeping on the streets, in parks, doorways, or vehicles.
