London Stansted Airport has released images of what will be its new arrivals terminal which is scheduled to be finished by 2020. The project starts early next year and should be completed by summer 2020. The new arrivals building will be located next door to the current one, and a spokesperson for Stansted Airport said this “will avoid any disruptions for customers.” The project will also see the existing arrivals terminal remodelled to create another departures terminal. This will include 134 check-in desks, a larger departure lounge with more seating, shops, bars and restaurants. The ‘computed generated images’ (CGIs) of the new terminal include larger immigration and baggage reclaim areas as well as a plaza style forecourt which will link passengers to public transport. The new terminal will be the flagship project of Stansted Airport’s transformation project, which is already underway, with a new check-in zone, 350-seat restaurant and more short stay car parks opening over the summer.
