A second referendum IS still on the table, Labour’s Brexit chief declared today – as he slapped down a shadow cabinet minister for suggesting otherwise. Sir Keir Starmer spoke out after shadow trade secretary Barry Gardiner claimed a second referendum could lead to “civil disobedience” and give “succour to the extreme right”. Labour does not currently back a second Brexit referendum, but crucially, has left the door open to backing one in future.
