Sam Burgess is ready to write a new World Cup story. Tired of the 2015 rugby union version still being trotted out with him at the centre, he also wants to pen a better ending than the 2013 rugby league tale. Now, ahead of the start of England’s 2017 campaign in Melbourne on Friday, Burgess and the rest of Wayne Bennett’s ambitious squad have the chance to etch their own names into the history books. “It’s a blank page for us at the moment, and we’re looking forward to what we can put down on it,” Burgess told the Sunday Mirror from the team’s Australian base. “When we look back on it all in six or seven weeks there will be another story to tell.
