Martina Navratilova has questioned Laura Robson’s decision to play the French Open after her career-threatening wrist injury. The former British No 1 has dropped to world No 329 and is playing the second Grand Slam of the season on her protected ranking. But Robson , who aborted a first comeback last summer, has only won one WTA Tour level match since her return in January and also failed to get through qualifying in two ITF events. The Olympic mixed doubles silver medallist has never won a match at Roland Garros and faces a tough opening match against German No 28 seed Andrea Petkovic – a semi-finalist here in 2014. And Navratilova said: “I would have thought she would have been better playing on the ITF circuit. Maybe she felt she was playing better than her results. So: back it up.
